Photographic Memory — free online memory game
About this game
Study a richly detailed scene — a kitchen, a market, a workshop — for exactly as long as you want. The scene closes, three questions land, and your visual detail recall gets an honest score. One honest note: true photographic memory has never been demonstrated in anyone; what this trains is the real skill behind the search.
Want your baseline first? Take the Photographic Memory Test — a 2–3 minute standardized version of this task with a population benchmark, then come back and train on it.
How to play Photographic Memory
- 1Study the scene for exactly as long as you need — you control the clock.
- 2The scene closes. Three questions about its details — answer from memory.
- 3A perfect case advances. Any miss costs a life — three and the run ends.
What Photographic Memory trains
Detail recall is trained by naming, not staring: 'four apples, red toaster, striped cloth' encodes far better than letting the scene wash over you. That verbal labeling of visual details — the detective's habit — is the trainable core of what people call photographic memory. Each case here forces the habit under self-chosen time pressure.

Tip: Scan like a detective and name details as you go — “red toaster, four apples” sticks far better than staring.
Does photographic memory exist?
No confirmed case has ever passed controlled testing — the famous 'S.' described by Luria came closest, and eidetic imagery in a small percentage of children fades with age. What you can genuinely train is fast, detailed visual encoding, which is what this test measures.
How do I score higher on the photographic memory test?
Scan like a detective, not a tourist: sweep the scene in sections and name details as you go. Ask yourself questions while studying ('how many cups?') because a detail you interrogated is a detail you keep.
Is Photographic Memory free?
Yes — Photographic Memory is completely free, with no account, no signup and no downloads. Scores are saved privately in your browser, and you can install MemoryGames as an app from your browser menu if you want it on your home screen.
