Memory Match — free online memory game
About this game
The card game everyone knows: flip two cards, keep the pairs you match, and clear the board. Fewer moves is better — and the 8×8 grid turns a childhood game into a serious position-memory workout.
How to play Memory Match
- 1Flip two cards at a time.
- 2Matching pairs stay open.
- 3Clear the whole board — fewer moves is better.
What Memory Match trains
Concentration trains location–object binding: every card you see is a fact to file ('queen of spades, third from the left'). The game gives instant, honest feedback on your encoding — a pair you saw thirty seconds ago and lost is a card you filed badly. Regular play noticeably sharpens the everyday skill of knowing where things are.

What is a good number of moves for memory match?
On a 4×4 board (8 pairs), anything under 14 moves is strong — perfect play needs at least 8. On 6×6 (18 pairs) aim under 30; on 8×8 (32 pairs) under 60 is excellent.
Does the memory card game actually help memory?
Yes, for the specific skill it exercises: visual–spatial association and sustained attention. It is a warm-up rather than deep training — pair it with span tests like Number Memory or Sequence Memory for a balanced session.
Is Memory Match free?
Yes — Memory Match is completely free, with no account, no signup and no downloads. Scores are saved privately in your browser, and you can install MemoryGames as an app from your browser menu if you want it on your home screen.
