Sea Chorus — free online memory game

About this game

A musical memory game: seahorse, turtle, crab, pufferfish, starfish, octopus, stingray, jellyfish and whale each sing their own note in a melody that starts with one tone and grows by one every round. Watch the reef sing, then tap the singers back in the same order — on touch, mouse, or keys 1 to 9. One wrong note ends the run, but the melody waits: practice it unscored for as long as you like.

How to play Sea Chorus

  1. 1Watch and listen: nine sea creatures sing a melody, one note at a time — every animal has its own voice and its own key on your keyboard.
  2. 2Repeat the melody by tapping the creatures in the same order. Each completed round adds one more note to the same tune.
  3. 3One mistake ends the scored run — then practice that exact melody as long as you like, unscored, before starting fresh.

What Sea Chorus trains

Sea Chorus trains auditory working memory — holding a sound sequence in mind and reproducing it in order, the same span task at the heart of digit-span and Simon-style tests. Because every pitch belongs to a face and a personality, your brain encodes each note twice (audio + visual), the dual-coding trick that makes melodies far easier to remember than abstract beeps. As the tune grows, you are pushed from pure echoic memory into chunking: grouping notes into phrases, the exact strategy musicians use.

Category: Everyday memory · Scoring: Rounds in rounds

Tip: Give every animal a name and hum its pitch as it sings — the note and the face become one memory, and long melodies turn into a story.

What is Sea Chorus?

A free Simon-style memory game with sea animals. Nine creatures — each with its own singing voice and keyboard key — perform a melody that grows by one note per round. You watch and listen, then repeat the sequence by tapping the animals in the same order. It runs in any browser, no signup, and your best score is saved on your device.

How long can the melody get?

There is no fixed limit — every completed round appends one more note, so the tune grows until you slip. Most players reach 5 to 9 rounds, right around the classic 7±2 span of short-term memory. When a run ends you can practice that exact melody unscored, then start a fresh tune.

Is Sea Chorus free?

Yes — Sea Chorus is completely free, with no account, no signup and no downloads. Scores are saved privately in your browser, and you can install MemoryGames as an app from your browser menu if you want it on your home screen.
